Coincidence?

Last night, while preparing Dinner for One (one lovely 4-cheese Red Baron pizza, all for me), I noticed a disturbing similarity.

Coincidence? I think not….

I think they were separated at birth.

Celebrities Suck

Recently, Bette Midler cut down more than 230 trees around one of her properties in Hawaii without a permit. This particular piece of land had been zoned for CONSERVATION use.

The state has recommended she be fined $6,500 for murdering the defenseless trees. The state will also create a “regrowth plan” for her property, complete with several exotic species of expensive plants.

I guess that’s the price you pay for the state to re-landscape your lawn.

Ghost Tour

RZ and I took a little trip to St. Augustine last night.

THE OLDEST CITY IN AMERICA. That’s right. older than Jamestown. Ya’ll best recognize.

Rob’s been going to all these CVB and Hotel meetings, and meeting people from all the attractions in the area. Well, he met a guy who is with a Ghost Tour company in St. Augustine, so we decided to go see what it was all about.

It was lots of fun. More informative than scary most times, but there were some really cool spooky stories.

I think that’s what I would like to do one day. Dressing up in period clothing and leading people around talking about Yellow Fever and graveyards seems like it would be fun.

Here are some pictures from the evening.

Some Sweets. I had to at least look through the window at them.

Here I am eating my favorite ice cream on the PLANET!
Toasted Coconut Ice Cream from Kilwins Chocolates. OH MY.

The city gates of St. Ausustine. The actual gates of the outside of the city. A wall made of stone stretched 18 feet high, all around the city. Only open during daylight. So if you were outside the gates when the sun went down, you were out of luck. Pretty scary. There’s a story of a little girl who died of yellow fever, and always wanted to be the gate keeper, and now she is. But I didn’t get a picture of her little ghostie.

Here is one of the creepier photos of the night. The taller grave stone belongs to a woman named Nellie. She’s supposed to be seen wandering around the graveyard every night. But she appears to people EVERY night, because her face is burnt onto the gravestone. At first I didn’t see it, but then I took a picture and I saw it. It freaked me out a little. I got my money’s worth of Spookies.

Ok, last photo. Some cool marching drummer guys. They were neat.

Go to St. Augustine if you ever get a chance. It’s REAL cool.

The iPhone Strikes Again

First iPhone Bills Arriving—
and They're Pretty Heavy

Customers of the new iPhone received their first AT&T bills this week. You can’t accuse AT&T of not being thorough, since the average bill was 30-50 pages long.

Talk about killing trees.

One customer in particular received a 300-page bill, detailing over 30,000 text messages, and 200 minutes of talk time.

Attention to detail is great and all, but do you really want to open a 300 page bill every month? Sounds like AT&T and iPhone need to spend more time marketing their online billing option.

The Incredibles

I finally watched The Incredibles last night. What a great movie!!!

I found myself, at times, thinking about how amazing the animation was. Can you imagine how tedious it would be to animate individual strands of hair on a cartoon's head? DANG.

All the voice actors were really good. I really can't stand Holly Hunter under normal circumstances, but I was able to ignore the "redneck" quality in her voice and actually enjoy the character, so kudos to Ms. Hunter.

Samuel L was awesome, per usual. Jason Lee was extremely funny, and a really good fit for the "bad guy." The kids were funny too.

Sitting on the couch, watching the Incredibles and eating Oreos. It was a great night.

Frosted Handlebar

Dudes, I went Betty Crocker on your ass this weekend!

I got the recipe for Handlebar (AKA: Frosted Banana Bars) at daveheinzel.com, an internet gem written by a fellow Springfieldian & Spartan.

Check it out. Read the recipe. Make the Handlebar.

You will not regret it.

I don’t think I’ve ever used that much sugar IN MY LIFE!

Radical

Today is 80's day at work.

Yes, I work in a professional office, and we have theme days. I am just waiting for Hawaiian Shirt Day.

I have a side pony tail. It is rockin'.

Sadly, I didn’t go all out for 80’s day. I only wore my St. Louis Cardinals FOOTBALL shirt from like, 1982.

People keep saying, “Dude, that’s more like early 90’s.”

NO IT’S NOT, JERKS! THE CARDINALS LEFT ST. LOUIS IN 1987!

America's Got (no) Taste

Does anyone watch “America’s Got Talent?”

Me either. Any show that still gives The Hoff a job can stay off my TV screen.

But regardless, there was a group of guys on the show that made it all the way to week 8 (which I guess ended last night). They were not put through to the finals, which just sucks.

They are a bunch of really nice, really talented (not to mention hot) performers out of Orlando called “2nd Story Guys.”

I got to know them a little because I hire them at the Speedway for events. They are really cool and laid back, and the people love them. AND THEY LOVE THE PEOPLE.

Anyway, I just wanted you all to know how cool I am because I know some guys who were on some stupid talent show.

They was robbed.

Here, watch the video of their performance.

Here I am with these talented, strapping young men.
