Last Hurrah

We went to Busch Gardens Tampa today and it was AWESOME!

We conquered Sheikra and rode it TWICE IN A ROW! (I wanted to ride it a third time, but the ride was shut down... boo) It was a great park with lots of awesome roller coasters. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Florida or to anyone looking to gain 10 pounds stopping to eat every 20 feet (the food there was wonderful).

But stay away from the wooden roller coaster. It's called Kwanzaa or something, and it was only good for rattling all the teeth out of my head.

We also got to go on a special Safari Tour and feed giraffes!
Fun Fact: Giraffes & other horned creatures really like ceasar salad. Rob said at one point that it looked like we were driving through the Chronicles of Narnia. It's so true! It was gorgeous, and the weather was perfect.

THANK YOU SO MUCH, KIM!

It was a great ending to our Florida stay. Now it's time to pack. No more stalling.

Oops...

Sorry... We're moving to Louisville, KY!

"LOO-uh-vull"

You can all still email me at:

I am a packing MACHINE. Just took a break to check email and give an update. If anyone is moving in the near future, I suggest using rubbermaid tubs rather than cardboard boxes.

MAN it makes packing easier.

On the Road Again...

Well folks, this is it.

Friday is my last day at Daytona International Speedway, and I will be leaving Florida. I know, it’s a shocker. I haven’t really come to terms with it either.

Robbie and I have decided to move closer to family. We both want to be there when important things happen in our lives, and we’re looking to start our future together, and make a permanent residence.

It’s been a really hard and sad decision. It’s been a long time coming, but now that it’s getting closer, it seems even harder. Everyone at work is begging us not to go, and believe me, if we could stay we would. We both really like working here at the track, and it’s going to be hard to leave.

We have both gotten our priorities in line in the past few years, and being this far away has made us realize how important family is to us. So now if a friend gets married, or a grandparent has a birthday, or a sibling graduates from college, we’ll be there.

So please wish me luck in the next few weeks. We don’t have jobs yet where we’re going, so we will be hitting the job search pretty hard once we get there.

Keep us in your prayers, and keep checking the blog for updates.

Love, Betsy

Beach

I need to tell you that I seriously love the beach.

We went today for a short time (too short if you ask me) and it was PERFECT.

Not too crowded. Not too hot. The water felt AMAZING.

I think I have gotten pretty good at boogie boarding. Not that it's really an acquired skill, but I can at least know when to jump on the board to catch a wave. I ride em all the way in and get sand in my pants. LOVE IT.

Today, there was a kid who I immediately named, "Rich Fat Kid" because he was out in the water, floating on a really expensive surfboard, not doing ANYTHING. So clearly, mommy will spend the money on all the ho-hos and surf boards he wants, but not spend the money or time to get him actual surfing LESSONS.

So he was essentially just using a really expensive floaty toy.

But he wasn't going to ruin my day. Even if he felt it necessary to say, "You shouldn't be wearing those sunglasses out here."

"Why's that?" I replied.

"Cuz if you catch a wave they'll be gone for sure."

Whatever.

Like he knows what "catching a wave" is like. Doesn't matter anyway. If my sunglasses fell of my face, I wouldn't be that concerned, since they were only a dollar. Maybe he wears more valuable sunglasses.

The beach was good today. In spite of Rich Fat Kid.

Friday Night Lights

I had the IMMENSE pleasure of attending a high school football game this weekend. It was soooo much fun. Brought back all kinds of memories.

A friend of ours is an athletic trainer for the team at one of the High Schools in Orlando, and they were playing a big rival this weekend. So Rob and I took the trip down to the high school to watch.

It was great. Cheerleaders, nachos, bleachers, and observing the social patterns of today’s high schoolers. Seems like they all have cell phones these days. Better cell phones than I have. They all have cooler hair cuts than me too.

I guess I am just not “hip” anymore.

I took some pictures that came out kindof neat with motion blur.

Mail Time!

Woo Hoo!!

I love the mail!!!

I finally got the famous SHOO + GTG magnet!!

I cannot believe my little Chrissy is getting married. It’s scary that we’re all grown ups now. Even though Shoo is totally beating me in the race to adulthood.

He already has TWO puppies, BOUGHT A HOUSE, and now he’s getting married.

Man.
